The Museum of Sacred Art and Furnishings was established in 1998. It is located in the rooms of the Oratory dedicated to the Vergine del Rosario (Virgin of the Rosary) and is one of the few examples of permanent exhibits of its kind on the entire island of Sardinia.

The museum is home to handmade objects and furnishings belonging to the Fraternal Order of the Rosary as well as works of important artistic value arriving from the Santa Barbara parish and the Oratorio delle Anime (Oratory of the Souls). The oldest pieces date back to the 16th century, such as the silver incense burner in the shape of a small Gothic temple. The collection of objects that can be traced back to the 17th century is more substantial and well represented by a small, delicately chiselled silver Peace symbol representing a Crucifixion enclosed within a Gothic arch.

Among the sculpted works in wood: the Santa Barbara Parish Crucifix and the Statue of the Virgin of the Rosary attributed to the famous 18th century Sardinian artist Giuseppe Antonio Lonis. The museum’s building dates back to the early 17th century and corresponds to the stylistic dictates of the Late Sardinian-Catalan Gothic period, even if its current aspect reflects the innumerable renovations it underwent through the centuries.
